What to Expect at Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy
The first evaluation includes a thorough subjective discussion to understand your symptoms, history, lifestyle, and goals. It then includes an assessment of how your pelvic floor muscles work together with your core, hips, breathing, posture, and movement patterns.
Depending on symptoms and presentation, this can include an external and internal examination. External exam goes over movement, strength, and palpation of the abdomen, hips, pelvic floor, and more. For men, the internal examination is typically performed rectally with one gloved finger. It allows your physical therapist to evaluate strength, coordination, endurance, tension, trigger points, tenderness, and nerve sensitivity.
**Internal Exam is never required for physical therapy but can be helpful for obtaining detailed information on specific dysfunctional pelvic floor muscles. Treatment is always tailored to patient needs and comfort.**

Patient Testimonials
Solstice Physiotherapy is proud to help our patients recover from injuries and live pain-free lives. But don’t take our word for it, here are some reviews from patients who have benefited from our services.
“I’ve been going to Solstice for pelvic floor PT, among other functional GI conditions. Kara and Lexi were instrumental in my recovery. They are incredibly knowledgeable and caring, and their treatment is clearly aimed at resolving symptoms for good.
Could not recommend them enough. 10/10.”

“If I could give 10 stars I would. I’ve been to other practices and not any one of them can compare to Solstice. Erica treats me like family and I feel like I’m chatting with a friend during treatment as she makes me feel so comfortable, educated, and empowered but most importantly Erica has restored my faith after other practices were not good with me. She’s trauma informed, takes a holistic approach, is agile when working with me and is un rushed. Erica has went above and beyond with my care. I’m so blessed to have found solstice and Dr. Erica.”
— Christopher
“I have been to two different PT’s before Solstice and once I got there I felt like this is when my recovery really started. They really take the time to help you understand the Pelvic Floor and how to recover.”
— JOSHUA
